An NDRF team today carried out a day-long operation to rescue the persons suspected to be buried under the debris of the five-storey building that collapsed near Hatkoti yesterday, but failed to locate anyone.
The NDRF team called from Sunni reached Hatkoti late last night and started rescue operations this morning. They were assisted by home guards, police, fire brigade and local people.
"The team removed the debris and later broke the concrete slabs with the help of cutters but neither any body nor any survivor was traced even after breaking the slabs of four stories andonly the last lanter is being dismantled," SDM Rohroo YPS Verma said.
The rescue teams and the administration were unsure whether any person was still buried under the debris but decided to not take any chance and continued the operations.
"We are continuing the operations and not taking any chance, but we are not sure whether some persons are still trapped under the debris. Also, there was no report from any quarters that some person from any family has gone missing," Shimla Deputy Commissioner Rohan Chand Thakur said.
The rescue teams also made searches in Pabbar River even though the chances of bodies flowing into river were "very remote" as the accident spot and the river are far-off.
Two dead bodies were recovered from the debris yesterday while five persons were rescued and admitted to hospital.
