The National Disaster Response Force has deployed its teams in vulnerable areas of Gujarat to deal with cyclonic storm Nilofar that will hit the state's coast on Friday.
NDRF has pre-positioned seven rescue and relief teams at Gandhidam, Dwarka, Porbandar, Veeraval and Rajkot in Gujarat.
Two rescue teams have also been pre-positioned at Bhuj, an official spokesperson said.
NDRF teams are being deployed in vulnerable areas as proactive measures to mitigate the situation during cyclonic storm.
The NDRF is fully geared up for rescue operations in the wake of the cyclone in Arabian Sea along Gujarat coast, the spokesperson said.
Besides, nine NDRF teams are on standby and awaiting deployment instructions.
The NDRF also alerted its three battalions situated at Vadodara (Gujarat), Pune (Maharashtra) and Bathinda (Punjab).
