NDRF trains personnel to tackle natural disaster in NE states

To tackle both natural and manmade disaster in northeastern region of the country, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has trained around 1,100 personnel of units of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and five other states in the areas.
"We have trained around 1,149 state disaster response force personnel of various states in the northeast including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya," Battalion Commandant NDRF Guwahati Alok Kumar Singh, who was here at the concluding function of the training programme imparted to two companies of Meghalaya State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), told PTI.
With the whole region North Eastern region considered to have 'high vulnerability' to natural disasters such as earthquake and landslips, Singh said the each state ought to have their trained disaster response force in place.
He said 20 special trainers from the NDRF conducted the Central Training Institute of the CDHG headquarter at Mawdiangdiang.
