NE Youth Fest begins in Kohima

North East National Service Scheme (NSS) with an aim towards fostering relationship amongst the youth of the region, launched a five-day youth festival of North East began here with participants from all the eight north east states.
Chief Secretary, Nagaland, Pankaj Kumar (IAS) who was here to inaugurate the festival called upon the youth to be the 'bridge' for better understanding of each other's culture while preserving one's own identity.
"Take full benefit of the opportunity which would enhance their personality to grow as leaders," he added.
NSS North Eastern region, Guwahati, Regional Director, S.K. Basumatary said from next financial year the fund for NSS would be fully funded by the Centre.
At present 70 per cent is contributed by the Centre and 30 per cent from the state.
More than 200 delegates from the eight north east states are participating in the festival.
So far 11 youth festivals have been organized in six north east states and Nagaland is hosting the youth event for the second time.
