Nearly 72 passengers from Pakistan have crossed over to India by road after they could not travel by rail post the cancellation of Samjhauta Express, officials today said.
Rail link across the border has been halted in the wake of an ongoing farmers agitation in Punjab on the Indian side.
Official posted at Attari confirming the arrival of nearly 72 passengers from Pakistan said, all have crossed over to the Indian territory by foot through the land transit route of Attari-Wagah boder.
All these passengers were earlier scheduled to cross over to India from Pakistan through the rail route, they said.
Last week on Thursday, the train was also cancelled as Indian Railways authorities didn't allow the Samjautha Express to cross over to India.
Similarly, Indian authorities today also sent around 30 Pakistani nationals to Pakistan by foot through the land transit route, who were earlier scheduled to cross over the border by the rail route.
