As many as 99,780 pregnant women have been benefited under Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), which is an NRHM scheme, during current financial year upto January 2013, Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmed Khan told Legislative Assembly in a written reply to the question of BJP member Baldev Raj Sharma today.
JSY is a safe motherhood intervention being implemented under NRHM with the objective of reducing maternal and neonatal mortality by promoting institutional deliveries among the pregnant women, he said.
Similarly, under another scheme -- Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojana (JSSK) also known as 'Maa Tujhe Salaam', around 1,19,434 pregnant women and 20,044 sick neonates have been given free treatment during the current financial year upto January 2013, he added.
