"We are getting enough cooperation on all the other fronts but it is not so on the law and order front... There are some good people also in the police force but there appear to be some shortcoming somewhere," Yadav said here while inaugurating 1090, a free police helpline for women.

Training his guns at a section of the media he said, "It is continuously attacking Uttar Pradesh... When action is taken on different cases it is not given coverage."

"The reality is that the state government is committed on improving law and order situation and officials are also working in this direction," Yadav said.

He also referred to former Chief Minister and BSP president Mayawati's criticism of the government on the law and order situation in the state as "100 per cent bad" after lunch with the Prime Minister on Sunday.

"Leader of a party said something like this..... We also had dinner with him do not know what was there in the food that she had," Yadav said.

Incidents of eve teasing and indecency with women have gone up with the use of mobile phones and communication media becoming more available, he said while hoping that the helpline would provide relief from such instances as the identity of complainants would be kept a secret.
