Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today laid emphasis on changing the "mindset" and educating school children for improved condition and safety of women in society.
"The system should be such that women do not need police and other agencies to feel safe in society. It requires not just change in thinking but also a mindset where it could be achieved," Sisodia said at an event to mark International Girl Child Day.
The Delhi government is making efforts towards educating children by focusing on 26 lakh students in its schools, he said.
"We are taught in books that woman is opposite of man. However, they are complementary instead of being opposites. Such education was affecting children which need to be looked into," he said.
"We need to work for a Delhi which we want for our own sisters and daughters, then only the problem will be solved. For this, we need to make efforts through law, education and courts," he said.
