Eminent science writer Jon Turney today said that there was a need to cultivate a proper atmosphere to help ignite young minds to embark upon intellectual adventures driven by pertinent questions.
Participating at "The GREAT Talk", organised by the British Council here at the Birla Industrial & Technological Museum, Turney described "The Great Talk" as a wonderful initiative.
Turney said, "The GREAT Talk will engage, encourage and inspire young students. My talk today was on how hard it is to focus on the future when the present is evolving so rapidly. It's clear that the future remains radically uncertain, and there's not much we can do about it."
He dwelt upon "how to tell forecast from fantasy, hope from hype, and how to think about achieving futures we would like to live in".
Jon Turney is a science writer, editor and reviewer since the early 1980s. He has been writing and editing especially on life sciences, science and society and policy issues and has written for a wide range of audiences.
Organised by the British Council, The GREAT Talk is aimed at motivating young Indian students to plan their careers effectively by interacting with eminent UK speakers.
It is a multi-city initiative, with talks scheduled in New Delhi and Mumbai with other prominent UK educationists and speakers over the next few months.
