Chief Justice of India H L Dattu today said that there is a need to impart practical training other than giving theoretical training to judicial officers.
Speaking at the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of the New Building of Karnataka Judicial Academy here, he said ethics was absolutely necessary for the present day judicial officers.
Justice Dattu hoped that the two resolutions - imparting practical training and conducting ethical classes for judicial officers - passed at the last Chief Justices Conference, held in April, would be adopted by the Academy.
"One of the resolutions we took on that day (chief justices' conference) was that apart from giving theoretical training to our officers we need to give practical training also," he said.
Justice Dattu also said it means instead of asking a resource person to take lecture classes, he should give practical training to judicial officials.
"....All my chief justices - they all agreed we need to have more training for judicial officers. In fact we have passed a resolution to that effect in our last Chief Justices Conference," he said.
He said the conference had decided to take ethical class, which is necessary for present day judicial officers.
"One more decision we took on that day, at the end of each class there must be a class of ethics, and this ethics is one which is absolutely necessary for the present day judicial officers," he said.
