Bryan Fuller is following up "Hannibal" with a mini-series adaptation of Neil Gaiman's "American Gods".
Fuller will co-produce the show with "Heroes" veteran Michael Green, but the series is unlikely to reach screens for more than a year, reported Digital Spy.
Fuller confirmed that Starz plans to premiere "American Gods" in January 2017.
While Fuller and Green will serve as showrunners and head writers, Gaiman himself is confirmed to be writing episodes of the series.
First published in 2001, Gaiman's mythic fantasy follows a war brewing between traditional mythical gods and modern gods, and takes as its premise the idea that these gods' powers wax and wane according to the public's belief in them.
The series was finally greenlit by Starz in June, following a long and troubled development history at HBO.
