The neo-liberal economic policy "pursued" by the UPA government is a total failure in resolving problems faced by common man, CPI-M Politburo member S Ramachandran Pillai said today.
The policies have only benefited the corporates and brought miseries to ordinary people, Pillai told reporters here.
Alleging that the Centre was not doing anything to root out corruption, the CPI-M leader said: "Government should unearth the black money of corrupt people and use it for welfare schemes."
The leader was here in connection with the party's ongoing south march -- 'jatha' -- which entered the state today.
Objective of the march is to solicit support of people for alternative policies put forward by the party. The alternative policies of CPI(M) and the Left parties would be brought to focus during the jathas, he said.
"CPI(M) in Kerala is united," Pillai said when asked about the alleged rift between the party state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and V S Achuthanadan.
He, however, added that CPI-M was a democratic party where everyone has the freedom to express their views and opinion.
