The bid for the Kolkata franchise has been won by former India captain Ganguly in a consortium with Spanish League giants Atletico Madrid and industrialists Neotia, Goenka and Utsav Parekh.
The Ganguly-led consortium has pipped Shah Rukh Khan to win the bid and Sanjiv Goenka, chairman of RP- Sanjiv Goenka Group, said they were looking forward to work with Ganguly.
"In Ganguly we have got the finest mind and a phenomenal human being. We all are positive about it. We might be new to sporting venture and I'm sure it will be challenging but we're committed to take the sport forward. We hope ISL gets into our DNA in the days to come," Goenka told PTI.
Excited to be part of the ISL, Padmashree awardee Neotia said: "It's a great opportunity for us to be part of the development process in Indian football. The sport after all improves the ecosystem with its culture."
