Nepal's govt to hold polls fearless, peaceful manner: Regmi

Nepal today said it has made full preparations to conduct the key Constituent Assembly elections in a "fearless and peaceful" manner and warned any attempt to disrupt it would be dealt with strongly.
The much awaited assembly polls in Nepal are slated for November 19.
"The government will not compromise with any one in conducting the elections in a free, impartial and peaceful manner," said Khil Raj Regmi, Chairman of the interim government.
The government has continued all its efforts for making necessary preparations for the polls and ensuring a peaceful atmosphere, Regmi said while addressing a function organised here to launch a book 'Ethical Business Practices'.
"The government is committed to conducting polls in a peaceful and fearless manner and any attempt to disrupt the polls or create disturbances will be death legally and in a strong way," he said.
Besides, he asked political parties, civil society members, voters and the business community to cooperate to make the elections a success.

Meanwhile, fringe parties in the 33-party alliance protesting against the elections, have asked clarification from their coordinator and CPN-UML chairman Mohan Vaidya over his remarks about forging alliance with the pro-monarchists in the pretext of "preserving national sovereignty."
In a closed door meeting at the office of the CPN-Maoist, the breakaway faction of the Unified CPN-Maoist, here yesterday, the parties have warned to withdraw their support from the agitation being launched by the alliance against the present government, if the Maoists wanted to join hands with monarchists.
The Maoist party has launched agitation to oppose the November elections asking Regmi either to resign from the post of the chief justice of the Supreme Court or from the post of the head of the government.
Matrika Yadav of CPN (Maoist), Pasang Sherpa of Social Democratic Party, Khagendra Makhim of Federal Democratic National Forum, Mani Thapa of Revolutionary Communist party, Buddha Raj Syantan of Adivasi Janajati party and Sita Ram Tamang of CPN (Unified) voiced their reservation over the proposed alliance by the CPN-Maoist with the monarchists.
