Netmagic launches software defined storage service

Communications solutions firm Netmagic today today announced launch of its Tiered Secure Storage (NTSS).
The firm claims it is India's first Storage-as-a-Service (SaaS), which provides metered IOPS for customers' mission critical applications.
NTSS is a customised multi-platform software-defined storage offering available to public cloud customers as well as customers with single-tenant environments such as dedicated servers or private clouds, it said in a release.

Microsoft establishes IPR Chair at Gujarat National Law Univ * Tech giant Microsoft has said it has established a dedicated Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Chair at the Gujarat National Law University (GNLU).
The Chair will consist of one full-time Professor, a Research Associate and an Administrative Secretariat along with an Administrative Assistant, it said in a release.

The focus will be on capacity creation, development of policy research and thought leadership in IPR laws in India, it added.

Infosys BPO creates process progression model * Infosys BPO, a subsidiary of IT major Infosys, today unveiled its Process Progression Model (PPM), a holistic and innovative framework to accelerate optimisation and end-to-end transformation of business processes.
PPM brings together multiple transformation levers and competencies developed by Infosys, to help clients progress their business processes in a phased way and maximise efficiency and effectiveness of each process, it said in a release.
The new framework maps progress of each process against pre-defined client-centric benchmarks to deliver enhanced value and improved business outcomes for clients, it added.

Kolkata to get first green residential building * With energy-efficient features to reduce electric bills by more than 20 per cent, Kolkata's first green residential apartment would be ready by next year.
Being built by Primarc Group, 'Astitva' would be a high-end project in Kankurgachi which has been certified as gold-rated by the Indian Green Building Council, company director Sidharth Pansari said in Kolkata today.
"This would be the first green residential project in Kolkata. For flat owners, their energy cost would go down by around 23 per cent," he said, adding, to incorporate these energy-efficient features their construction cost went up by 20-30 per cent.
