New archbishop installed

Mar George Njaralakatt, the newly elected Archbishop of Archdiocese of Tellicherry, assumed charge at an impressive and solemn ceremony at the St Joseph's Cathedral, Tellicherry, today.
The main celebrant was Major Archbishop Mar George Cardinal Alenchery of Syro-Malabar Church.
The co-celebrants were Archbishop Mar George Valiamattom and Archbishop Mar Andrews Thazhath, Vice President CBCI.
Later, Chief Minister Oommen chandy inaugurated a public meeting held on the occasion.
Among those attended the ceremony included state ministers K M Mani, P J Joseph, K C Joseph and K P Mohanan and former union minister Mullappally Ramachandran, MP.
Pope Francis on August 2014 appointed bishop Njaralakkat as the Archbishop of the Diocese of Tellicherry. He succeeds Archbishop George Valiamattam.
