The gallery at nearby Fort Kochi opened with 'Mythical Fantasy', an exhibition of over 45 much acclaimed paintings of renowned artist, the late C N Karunakaran, whose first death anniversary falls today.
The show will be open till January 25, a press release said.
Hasseena Suresh, Managing Director of the gallery said Karunakaran was one of the few globally-renowned Malayali artists with his unique style and deep-rooted local motifs, ranging from tantric to murals in addition to his rich contributions in areas like illustrations for literary works, typography, publishing among others.
"Artry is the coming together of Dubai-based Malayalees, either artists or ardent art lovers and by taking Artry to this side of the Arabian Sea, we are trying to build a bridge for cultures. By not being a stand-alone art gallery, we promise to bring in regular international art shows to Kochi and at the same time taking Kerala's master and emerging artists to Dubai and to the world," Vimala Narayanan, one of the promoters and directors of Dubai-based IAL group said.
