New batch of cadets pass out of Naval Academy

A batch of 380 cadets of the Navy and Coast Guard passed out of the Indian Naval Academy (INA) here today on the completion of their training.
The Passing-Out Parade, reviewed by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral R K Dhowan, also marked the commissioning of the cadets of the 87th Indian Naval Academy (B Tech) Course into the Navy this morning, a Defence release said.
The cadets belonged to three different passing-out courses of the Autumn Term 2014 - the 87th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) B Tech and M Sc courses, the 18th Naval Orientation (Extended) Course and the 19th Naval Orientation (Regular) Course.
Also graduating and marching shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts were 43 female cadets.
After the ceremonial review, Admiral Dhowan called upon the cadets to serve the country and Navy with pride and always uphold the values of commitment.
The Commander-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, Vice Admiral SPS Cheema, Commandant, INA, Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar P, were present on the occasion.

The parade was witnessed by the parents and guardians of the cadets and several Defence and Naval Attaches of friendly foreign countries.
The "Presidents Gold Medal", for the cadet adjudged first in the overall order-of-merit of the INAC course was awarded to Academy Cadet Captain Ankush Jasrotia. The "Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medal" for the cadet adjudged first in overall order-of-merit for the Naval Orientation (Extended) Course was awarded to Cadet Ankur Jangra.
Cadet R Jangra was awarded the "Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medal" for the cadet adjudged first in overall order-of-merit for the Naval Orientation (Regular) Course and Cadet Amita Singh was awarded the "Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (South) Gold Medal" for being adjudged the best woman trainee of the course. She also won the Commandant, INA Silver Medal for the cadet adjudged second in overall order-of-merit for the Naval Orientation (Regular) Course.
