New Bishop for Hazaribagh diocese

Jojo, who till now was the Bishop of Kitungia of Simdega diocese, was ordained as Bishop by the Cardinal at a religious function held at St Xaviers School here.

The five-hour religious function was attended by all the Bishops of Jharkhand, Bihar, Chattishgarh, Assansol and Archbishop WD Souza of Patna, besides congregation of about 20,000 people.

The new Bishop of Hazaribagh diocese, set up in 1995, took over from the first Bishop Charles Soreng, who retired after completing 75 years of age as per the rule.

Soreng submitted his resignation on completion of 75 years three years ago, but continued to serve the diocese till now as his successor was named by the Vatican City only three months ago.

The outgoing Bishop said he would continue to serve the people as Chairman of the Minority Schools Association of Jharkhand.

Addressing the congregation, the Cardinal asked the new Bishop to serve the people with love and affection to all communities following Jesus Christ's message to serve the mankind.
