"Charmed" reboot actor Sarah Jeffery has defended the new telling of the show.
The CW revamp of the hit '90s TV series centres on three sisters played by Jeffery, Madeleine Mantock and Melonie Diaz, who discover their witch identity after their mothers death.
Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs and Shannen Doherty played the trio in the original show.
In an Instagram post, Jeffery thanked the makers of the show for a huge opportunity as the new actors - "women of colour" - got to explore contemporary issues.
"I fully understand how dear the OG 'Charmed' is to many. For very, very good reason. We are so beyond grateful to have the opportunity to bring this reboot to life and bring current, timely themes to the forefront of a show that stars not one, not two, but THREE (women of colour)! We regard the foundation that was laid with great respect."
The actor added, "But, when my character is challenged, when there is futile yet harmful noise about how we are either incapable or doomed, I will vociferously defend myself and my sisters."
