The retired Supreme Court justice became the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) replacing Qamar Zaman Chaudhry who completed his four-year tenure.
The new chief met with senior officials including NAB's director general operations and members of the prosecution wing during his first day in office.
He asked for the details of all outstanding cases, references and records.
Iqbal, who has taken charge when the NAB is pursuing Panama Papers case against ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family, told media that he would complete probes in all pending cases.

Iqbal, who is also working as chief of commission on missing persons, vowed to complete his task and compile report before giving up his post as the head of Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances.
Justice Iqbal was also head of the commission task to investigate the circumstances which led to the US raid at complex of Osama bin Laden in 2011. His report was never shared with the public.
He was picked out of at least a dozen names floated by the government and opposition. The final decision was made after several rounds of consultations between Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Leader of Opposition Syed Khurshid Shah.
