The New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express will now halt at Asansol station, around 200 km from Kolkata, after Union Minister Babul Supriyo had requested the then Railway minister Suresh Prabhu to introduce a stoppage at his constituency.
As of now, the train has seven stoppages between the two cities.
"Dear Asansol, extremely happy to let you know that a the Howrah-New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express 12301/12302 will now have stoppage in Asansol. My heartfelt gratitude to @PiyushGoyal for honouring my request," Supriyo tweeted today.
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal in a letter to Supriyo dated May 4 has said that he was granting the request of his party colleague for a stoppage at Asansol for the popular Rajdhani train.
"I am happy to inform you that in deference to your request, it has been decided to provide stoppage of 12301/12302 Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express at Asansol Railway station," Goyal said in the letter.
At present, New Delhi-Sealdah Rajdhani Express has a stoppage at Asansol.
