Relish club sandwiches? You should head for New Delhi which offers them at an average of just Rs 543, the cheapest in the world, while Geneva has the most expensive ones at Rs 1815, according to a global survey.
New Delhi remained the cheapest destination to buy a Club Sandwich, with an average of just Rs 543 (5.97 pounds), although several other holiday favourites also appeared under the Rs 909 (10 pounds) threshold, including Madrid Rs 880 (9.68 pounds), Rio de Janeiro Rs 858 (9.44 pounds) and Bangkok Rs 704 (7.74 pounds), according to Club Sandwich Index (CSI) released yesterday by Hotels.Com.
Geneva has taken over from Paris as the most expensive city in the world in which to order a classic chicken, bacon, egg, lettuce and mayonnaise sandwich, at an average of Rs 1815 (19.96 pounds).
The CSI average price is calculated from the real prices paid by guests for a Club Sandwich in 30 hotels in the capital or an important tourist city of each country surveyed, across five, four and three star categories.
In total, 840 hotels globally were surveyed.
Now in its second year, the Index reflects not only changes in the actual price of a Club Sandwich across the globe but also the effect of currency fluctuations.
Travellers will be pleased to note that, on the whole, prices are falling: the Genevan average of 19.96 pounds, although higher than any other destination, is also lower than last year's most expensive, which was Rs 1858 (20.43) pounds in Paris.

In the UK the average Club Sandwich came in at Rs 1230 (13.53 pounds), with prices ranging from 26 to 6 pounds, putting Britain eighth on the table.
