New GOC for southern areas assumes charge

Lieutenant General Jagbir Singh today assumed charge as the new General Officer Commanding of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala area at the headquarters here.
The 1978 batch officer was commissioned in 8 Mechanized Infantry (7 PUNJAB) and was awarded Sena Medal for gallantry in the Jammu & Kashmir, a Defence statement said.
Before assuming the charges today, the officer paid tributes to the martyrs at War Memorial.
