Claimed to be first such among Indian Universities, the department will have collaboration with National and International institutions, incuding Italy, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria and Brazil, University Vice-Chancellor, Dr James Pitchai, said in a release here today.
The main motto of the department was to promote the novel findings and obtain the disease patterns with variants--mutational study-- in the medical field to create the International forum, he said.
The research work will focus mainly on rare genetic disorders, Pitchai said.
