"The new party president will be decided in eight days," senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde told reporters here.
Munde said he is not in the race to become the new state unit chief. "I will be a part of selecting the president. I will lead the party in 2014 state assembly elections," he said.
A core committee meeting of the state BJP was held at Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council Vinod Tawde's residence. It was attended by incumbent state BJP president Sudhir Mungantiwar and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Eknath Khadse among others.
The BJP leader said the decision to elect the new state party president is taken at the Central level.
