Warranteer.Com, to be launched in India next month, is a platform which connects consumers to vendors after purchase of a product and helps them find out about the warrantees and authenticity of the item and the dealer.
Giving the example of a mobile purchase, Sumit Lal, CEO of Warranteer.Com, said: "The application is a platform to secure a consumer who will have to scan the serial number of the phone and invoice details and save in the app which will verify the dealer and whether the product is under warrantee or not".

Throwing light on the legal arrangement in the country to protect consumers on the online platform, Lal said: "Though we have strong consumer laws in the country but the warrantee system has to be contemporary to the needs of the buyers so as to empower them."
"In conventional retail transaction in India, the consumer is assured of his rights through a veritable maze of laws, including Consumer Protection Act, Sale of Goods Act, Contract Law and, in cases where punitive damages are awarded, the IPC.
"Unlike USA where the consumer is protected by an over-reaching Magnusson Moss Warranty Act and E-Warranty Act, the Indian consumers are in sea when it comes to protection through warranties on goods purchased," Lal said.
