A release from the PCC president from Delhi said he met Sonia Gandhi to thank her for appointing him as new president of PCC in Puducherry.
Senior Congress leader V Narayanasamy, Leader of the opposition V Vaithilingam, party legislator K Lakshminarayanan and PCC functionaries accompanied Namassivayam during his meeting with Sonia Gandhi.
This is his first visit to Delhi after becoming the party president here.
He had already embarked upon initiatives to gear up the party in the context of the 2016 Assembly polls.
