"The association of directors from film, television and digital media industries, with support of other members of Tollywood, will carry forward the legacy of auteurs, who have set a benchmark for themselves," he told PTI.

An estimated 500 people - including filmmakers, technicians and cinematographers - turned up Saturday at the Technicians' Studio, where the association was formally launched at a meeting.

"There will be talks, discussions on the emerging media. We will seek to introduce new directors keeping in mind the latest trends in world cinema. There will be screening of works, followed by discussions. You can call it a directors' club," Viswanathan said.
