Jeypore Bikash Manch, a social outfit, has demanded creation of a new revenue division in Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Rayagada districts of Odisha for fast development of the region.
At present, the four Maoist-hit districts come under the southern revenue division with its headquartes at Berhampur, over 350 km from here.
"As the office of revenue divisional commissioner (RDC) is at Berhampur, development activities are not being properly monitored. The districts have not achieved the expected development parameters owing to lack of proper supervision," said president of the manch U N Mishra.
A new RDC at Jeypore would be able to look after the use of local peripheral development fund and all revenue disputes, he added.
The organisation also staged an agitation in front of the sub-collector's residence at Jeypore yesterday to create awareness and submitted a memorandum.
