New Route Relay Interlocking system installed at Kurla station
Press Trust of India Mumbai The Central Railway (CR) has successfully replaced its 29-year-old Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) system for the suburban train stations with the installation of a new one at Kurla station here.
The new RRI, which has been commissioned on June 13, is equipped to control signalling system among other operations which are vital for train movement, including suburban trains, mail trains, express trains, Harbour Line, Kurla Carshed, Kurla Goods Yard and Trombay cabin movements, according to a statement issued by the Central Railway.
The new RRI would help to improve overall reliability of signalling in the suburban train network and its panel is more user-friendly, the statement said.
"A team of 125 signalling and telecom experts did the massive task of RRI installation during night shutdown block without affecting any suburban train operations and without any inconvenience to the passengers and stakeholders," it said.
