Journalists covering tournaments at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Ranges from now on will be allowed to do so only if they are PIB accredited or are registered with the National Rifle Association of India.
The diktat, strange as it may seem, has been passed and communicated to the NRAI.
"As per the rule, only those with PIB (Press Information Bureau) accreditation or who are invited by NRAI, will be allowed to enter the range premises," a top NRAI official told PTI.
Earlier in the day, on the sidelines of the 61st National Shotgun Championship at the Karni Singh Range, a cameraman was denied entry by the main gate guards, who said they were instructed by the administrator (Manjushree Dayanand) to not allow 'private media'.
What exactly is private media, though, has not been clarified by the authorities.
The men's trap final took place today and former world champion Manavjit Singh Sandhu defended his national title by overcoming the challenge of UP's Anwer Sultan 45-43.
India international Zoravar Singh Sandhu bagged the bronze medal.
The range had last month hosted the prestigious World Cup Finals.
