Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi is the technical consultant for the sewage project which has been set up in accordance with recommendation of the Comprehensive Conservation Management Plan (CCMP) by INTACH to fulfil the requirements of water supply particularly for horticulture purpose in the President's Estate.
"The Sewage Treatment Plant has a capacity of 20 lakh litres wastewater treatment. The total water supply to the President's Estate from NDMC and other sources is 25 lakh litres. 80 per cent of this is generated as sewage which will be treated and utilised for horticulture purposes in the Estate," a statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
Mukherjee today also inaugurated Jhelum Residential Complex on the President's Estate.
The residential complex, named after Jhelum river has been built for the staff of Rashtrapati Bhavan, Press Secretary to President Venu Rajamony said.
"The complex is fully in accordance with Green Building parameters laid down by Ministry of Urban Development. These quarters are constructed under the redevelopment scheme of President's Estate," he said.
