"So far only training for tailoring was available but now a full-fledged vocational training unit- 'Kaushal Kuti' is made for mentally-challenged people," Social Welfare and Women and Child Development Minister Sandeep Kumar said while inaugurating the centre.
New units of vocation skills were also made functional today at 'Kaushal Kuti'.
New units, in addition to the tailoring unit, include drawing, painting, clay modelling, candle making, block printing, organic colour, bag making, pottery, jewellery making and craft, Kumar said.
According to an official, at present 71 residents of Asha Kiran are attending government schools whereas 27 residents are attending vision special school in sector-9 Rohini and 40 residents are being provided special education by a special educator.
Asha Kiran was the first government institution in the welfare sector, which was awarded ISO 9001: 2008 for quality management in September last year.
