Japanese researchers have developed a new technology that allows users to print 3D avatars of themselves between 10 to 20 centimetres high.

A Japanese lab called PARTY has opened the 'OMOTE 3D SHASHIN KAN' exhibit where becoming a figurine will cost you up to USD 500 and you can get your 'digital avatar' in a month.

Users have the choice to be moulded into one of three sizes between 10 and 20 centimetres and whatever they wear in the photo booth will turn up on their figurines, the News Limited Network reported.

The 3D imaging lens can capture every curve of the user and generate an image that is converted to a mould, which is later touched up.

The whole procedure of becoming a mini-figurine takes up to a month to produce after the sitting.
