Seniormost Congress MLA and the party's lone tribal legislator from the state Diba Chandra Hrangkhawl was today made the PCC chief of Tripura replacing Sudip Roy Barman.
Besides him, Ashis Kumar Saha, who had won from Bordwali assembly seat in a by-poll held there on May 28, was named as Working President of the party's state unit.
Saha, who was the chairperson of Agartala Municipal Council, is a chemical engineer from Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
Congress had lost badly to CPI-M led Left Front in the assembly election in the state on February 14 this year.
CPI (M)-led Left Front retained power in the state for the fifth time in a row while Congress could bag only 10 seats in the 60-member assembly.
