A security guard passing by the drain heard the cries of the baby girl, who is around a week old, and took her to a hospital.
Police said the baby was lying near the drain close to a school and was crying as she had been bitten by mosquitoes.
The security guard tried to search for her parents for some time and then took her to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, where her medical examination was conducted.
The baby is healthy. Efforts are on to trace her parents, said a police officer.
