Newly-elected BJP member takes oath in MP Assembly

Newly-elected BJP MLA from Ghodadongri (ST) seat in Betul district, Mangal Singh Dhurve, today took oath as a member of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly.
Assembly Speaker Dr Sitasharan Sharma administered the oath to Dhurve in his official chamber at the Vidhan Sabha, state Assembly spokesperson said.
State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Deputy Speaker Dr Rajendra Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Narottam Mishra and state BJP president and MP Nandkumar Singh Chouhan, former Minister Archana Chitnis and Principal Secretary of the state Assembly Bhagvan Dev Israni, among others, were present on the occasion.
"With this, the BJP's strength in the assembly rose to 166," BJP state vice president Vijesh Lunawat said.
The BJP MLA is now eligible to vote for the biennial polls for the Rajya Sabha scheduled to be held on June 11, he said.
By-election to Ghodadongri assembly seat was held on May 30 and Dhurve won it by a margin of 13,182 votes. The constituency had seen a voter turnout of 74.48 per cent.
