East Singhbhum Senior Superintendent of Police Amol Homkar said at least four other persons were detained and were being interrogated in connection with the ransacking of the office of Prabhat Khabar.
He said the incident took place following a report published in the newspaper.
When contacted, Resident Editor of the daily's Ranchi edition, Vijay Pathak, said, "A teacher and 12-15 of her supporters entered the newspaper office, overturned computers, chairs and broke glass panes."
The report was published on the basis of allegations made by some students of a school against the teacher, Pathak added.
