It would be a departure of sort if the five-day event is held in February as for the past 100 years it has been inaugurated on January 3.
Rescheduling of the event was discussed at the General Body Meeting of the Indian Science Congress Association, sources said.
Meanwhile, the 100th Science Congress came to a close here with delegates making a number of recommendations including attracting talent and develop human resource for science, technology and innovation in a mission mode.
It also recommended a special drive to re-adjust governance processes in universities for rejuvenation of research in academic sector.
During the five-day program, several committees made recommendations for strengthening Public and Private Partnerships in research and development sector and create a policy environment for increasing the investment.
Indian science sector needs to develop a suitable strategy and road map for climate change and other global issues which would require world wide collaborations, a release from the Science and Technology Ministry said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was the general president of the 100th Indian Science Congress.
Ranbir Sobti, Vice Chancellor of DAV University, Jalandhar was handed over the Vigyan Jot. Sobti is the President elect of next Indian Science Congress.
