Authorised trade unions affiliated to DMK and ruling AIADMK in the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) today said they would go on an indefinite strike from July 3 over wage revision issue.
The Neyveli Workers Progressive Union affiliated to the DMK and the AIADMK Employees Workers union issued strike notices separately to the NLC management today.
C Muthu of the Human Resource Department received the notices.
DMK affiliated union General Secretary S Rajavanian and AIADMK union president R Udaya Kumar issued the notices separately.
Rajavanian told reporters that wage revision was implemented once in every five years. The last revision was in 2007 and so far NLC was delaying implementing a fresh one, he alleged.
Talks with NLC failed. So the unions decided to go on indefinite strike from July 3, he said.
NLC Chief General Manager C Muthu told reporters that the issue would be settled soon.
