With Odisha ministers facing ire of the opposition parties over alleged irregularities in selection of beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today asked district collectors to exclude all ineligible families by January 15.
Patnaik issued this direction through video-conferencing while reviewing the implementation of NFSA in the state.
"The Chief Minister directed the district collectors to exclude all the ineligible beneficiaries by January 15 and complete ration card distribution by the same time," Odisha's Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma told reporters after the meeting.
This apart, the CM has also asked the district collectors to distribute the due quota of rice and wheat for the month of January to all beneficiaries by January 31, Dasburma said.
Any eligible family not been included in the beneficiary list can apply at the nearest block or municipality office and get their ration cards, Dasburma said adding the government was committed to ensure that all eligible persons get the benefits of NFSA.
The state government has expedited its action in proper implementation of NFSA after eggs and tomatoes were hurled at a number of ministers at different places by the supporters of the opposition Congress party.
Law and Panchayati Raj minister Arun Kumar Sahoo was the latest member of the council of ministers who faced the ire of the people at Puri last night.
