Talking to reporters, Ramashankar Tripathi, patron of the Citizen Welfare Trust today alleged that ATP Dilip Gheware was appointed to the post despite the PWD department clearly stating that he did not qualify for it.
"Gheware was transferred from the post of Assistant Town Planner of Mira-Bhayandar after corruption charges were levelled against him. But a local leader lobbied for him, following which he was re-appointed on the same post," Tripathi said.
"Surprisingly, the state government overlooked serious charges against Gheware and went ahead with his reappointment," he alleged.
Former corporator Rohit Suverna, who was also present at the press conference, alleged that there is an " unholy nexus of builders-politicians-bureaucrats in Mira-Bhayandar, which has led to over 80 per cent illegal constructions across the city.
"These influential people are involved in usurping the properties and amassing unaccounted wealth by playing with the law," he alleged.
