The 40 MW Unit-4 of the project will be commercially operational by midnight today. The three units of TLDP-IV project were commissioned on February 14, March 31 and July 1 this year.
"Consequent upon successful trial run of Unit-4 of Teesta Low Dam Hydro Electric Project, Stage IV (4 x 40 MW) at its installed capacity of 40 MW for continuous 20.08 hours on dated August 15, 2016, the Unit-4 is hereby declared under commercial operation with effect from 00:00 hours of August 19, 2016," NHPC Ltd said in a BSE filing today.
The filing added that 100 per cent power generated from TLDP-IV has been allocated to West Bengal and shall be supplied through West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL).
The TLDP-IV is a run-of-the-river scheme on Teesta river and is located at about 350 metres upstream of Teesta-Kalikhola confluence on NH-10 near Kalijhora village in the vicinity of West Bengal-Sikkim border as well as Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh border.
TLDP-IV can generate 720 million units of electricity in a 90 per cent dependable year with its four units running.
