The BJP in Arunachal Pradesh has demanded a clarification from the state government on the action taken for the safe release of NHPC General Manager Anil Kumar Agarwal who was kidnapped by National Democratic Front of Boroland(S) rebels from Assam last month.

"The Government must come out with a detailed status report on action taken by it for the safe release of the kidnapped GM of Tawang Hydro-electric Project, who is still untraceable," the party said in a communique here today.

Agarwal was abducted on September 21 from the 12-mile area near Bhalukpong on the Assam-Arunachal border while he was on his way to Guwahati, by suspected cadres of the Songbijit faction of the NDFB.
