NIC to develop 'Open Govt Data' website for TN

National Informatics Centre will develop a website of government data as part of transparency measures and it will host information related to welfare schemes in all State departments.
Information Technology Minister M Manikandan, announced in the Assembly that the data in the new website will feature socio-economic welfare schemes implemented through departments including education and transport.
He said the website will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.12 crore and referred to the central government creating a website featuring government data as part of transparency promotion measures.
Also, hackathons will be held using the data, he said and added that people will be able to access the data without any fee.
"By using the data, hackathons will be held at district and State levels to develop new applications and mobile apps which will be useful for the people.
