Rising demand at domestic spot markets from alloy-makers supported the upside.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in March rose Rs 4.80, or 0.84 per cent, to Rs 578.90 per kg in a business turnover of 896 lots.
Metal for delivery in April was up Rs 4.80, or 0.83 per cent, to Rs 585.40 per kg in 29 lots.
Market analysts said a firming trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME) as improved sentiment in China bolstered base metals prices and iron ore, supported the upside in nickel futures here.
