Amid a weak trend overseas and subdued demand at domestic spot markets from alloy-makers, nickel prices fell by 0.68% to Rs 977 per kg in futures trading today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in January month declined by Rs 6.70, or 0.68% to Rs 977 per kg in business turnover of 1,435 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February contract moved down by Rs 6.20, or 0.68% to Rs 983.60 per kg in 22 lots.

Marketmen said apart from low demand from alloy-makers at domestic spot markets, metal's weakness at the London Metal Exchange (LME) put pressure on nickel prices at futures trade here.
