Nickel prices went up by 0.58 per cent to Rs 610.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators raised their bets, driven by a firming trend at the domestic spot markets on strong demand.
In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in July was higher by Rs 3.50 or 0.58 per cent to Rs 610.50 per kg in a business turnover of 784 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month August spurted by Rs 3.20 or 0.52 per cent to Rs 615.60 per kg in 19 lots.
Analysts said raising of bets by participants largely on the back of increased demand from alloy-makers at domestic markets, mainly influenced nickel futures here.
