Nickel prices gained 0.09% to Rs 748.20 per kg in futures market today as speculators enlarged positions amid a firming trend at spot market on increased demand from alloy makers even as the metal weakened overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in August gained 70 paise, or 0.09%, to Rs 748.20 per kg in a business turnover of 31 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in July rose 50 paise, or 0.07%, to Rs 740.90 per kg in 921 lots.

Analysts said rising demand from alloy-makers at domestic spot market influenced nickel futures but the metal's weakness at the London Metal Exchange (LME), limited gains.
